Multiple-row cylindrical roller bearings (2 rows and 4 rows) are non-locating bearings. For the construction type NNU they are manufactured as either a normal or a tapered version. Radial clearance or preload can be preset during the installation of bearings with a tapered bore.
A big advantage of multi row (4 rows) cylindrical roller bearings is their very high radial load capacity. Due to the large number of rolling elements the impact force is well distributed. Also the friction is lower than at other multi row bearing types. Multi row cylindrical roller bearings cannot absorb axial forces. However, in service an axial displacement is possible.
